Midwest RAILS - Large Scale Modular
Midwest RAILS (Railroaders Active In Large Scale) is a large-scale modular model railroad club that was formed in 1994. We currently have 72 modules and 19 members. Our members live in the Chicago Illinois suburbs. They own and operate large-scale model trains in several scales including 1:20.3, 1:22.5, 1:24, 1:29 and 1:32.
Although a few modules, including our original, "small radius" corner modules, are owned by the club, most of our modules, including our new, "large radius" corner modules, are owned and decorated by individual members. As a result, our layouts have a variety of interesting scenes. These layouts range in size from a square 20' x 20' layout to an L-shaped 50' x 50' layout.
Although we hold business meetings periodically, Club activities are focused on setting up our modules for model railroad shows and other events. We participate in ten to twelve events each year.
